2018 Veronese IGT "Segno", Veneto, Italy

Tart, somewhat smoky, dried-vegetable to herbal and meaty-animal nose of predominantly black berries with peppery notes, a little paprika, capers and juniper as well as toasty tones. Powerful and quite spicy in the mouth, some warm, partly dried fruit, smoky, toasty and tobacco notes, a little paprika and pepper spice on the palate, some acid bite, slightly sandy, present tannin, good persistence, noticeable alcohol, oxidative tones, salty mineral hints, distinct cocoa notes, good to very good, slightly drying, quite spicy, again strong alcohol finish.
