2014 Roero DOCG Riserva, Piedmont, Italy

Tart, fairly mature nose, hint of tobacco, earthy notes and some undergrowth, red and black berries, hint of dried mushrooms, touch of root vegetables, tarry notes. Fairly tart, too, on the palate, earthy and tarry notes, hint of tobacco, fairly prominent tannins, light acid bite, dried vegetal notes, hint of cocoa and coffee, full-bodied with noticeable high alcohol, nutty notes, firm structure, some depth, light peppery notes and more tobacco on a very good, grippy finish.
