2003 Barbera d'Alba DOC Elena, Piedmont, Italy

Light animal notes on the herbaceous nose, lovage, some malt and dried red berries. Some fleshy dark berry fruit in the mouth, tranquil and fairly persistent, with some spicy notes and rum punch, the oak adds some dark chocolate notes, prominent and powerful but ripe tannins. good finish. Very full-bodied.
