2018 Valtellina Superiore DOCG Sassella Riserva "Ultimi Raggi", Lombardy, Italy

Firm and deep, tart, cedary, somewhat dried-floral, leathery, cedary and fine-vegetable aroma of red and black berries with forest floor, porcini mushrooms, morels, cigar tobacco, soya sauce and some meat juice as well as dark ethereal spice in the background. Ripe, tightly knit, juicy, concentrated fruit, lots of crumbly tannins, tobacco and smoky flavours, pepper and a little allspice on the palate, marbling, fine acidity, a little tobacco ash and tar in the background, plenty of salt, tart leathery and dried floral tones, a hint of soy sauce, ethereal spice, deep and multi-layered, still young, long. The Latour among the Valtellina.
