2018 Valtellina Superiore DOCG Sassella Riserva "Nuova Regina", Lombardy, Italy

Deep and complex, somewhat dried-herbal to tobacco and slightly iodised aroma of ripe, predominantly red berries with leathery and warm earthy nuances, black olives, soy sauce and oregano. Ripe, juicy, dense fruit, very fine acidity and crumbly, ripe, present but very harmonious tannins, nutty and slightly sweetish-tomato flavours on the palate, persistent, smoky and tobacco notes, a hint of tar, lots of salt, deep and multi-layered, has power and elegance at the same time, fine chocolaty notes, very good, firm, beguilingly juicy finish with fine spice.
