2018 Valtellina Superiore DOCG Riserva Inferno "Sesto Canto", Lombardy, Italy

Firm, relatively cool, finely herbal nose of red and some black berries with tobacco aromas as well as a little tar, dried flowers, cigar ash, hints of anchovies, dried mushrooms and leather. Finely juicy, pure, more red than black fruit with youthful, present, yet very fine tannins and an animating acid bite, slightly nutty and clearly herbal on the palate, again a little dried flowers, some iodine and soya sauce in the background, then also blueberries, first appears robust and becomes finer and finer with air, clear minerality, multi-layered, very good to long, finely juicy and spicy finish.
