2012 Valtellina Superiore DOCG Sassella "Stella Retica", Lombardy, Italy

Firm, fairly deep nose, hint of tobacco, elegant mushroomy notes, hint of forest floor, ripe red berries, dried herbs, some tree bark, cedary traces, black berries, floral traces. Ripe red berries on the palate, tart, elegant and juicy, delicate floral traces, hint of tobacco and mushrooms, some old oak, very good persistence, hint of yeast extract, delicate acid bite, generally well integrated, fine dusty tannins, good depth, leathery and herbaceous traces, fairly cool style, still young, prominent salty mineral notes, very good finish, classy wine.
