2001 Valtellina Superiore DOCG Riserva Sassella "Vigna Regina", Lombardy, Italy

Mature, leathery nose, some spicy cardamom, partly dried red berries, hint of cassis in the background, dried flowers, candied herbs, mineral traces. Tart on the palate, earthy and leathery, more fairly prominent cassis, mature tannins, creamy, good persistence and has some depth, totally old-fashioned, tranquil style, this is all about origin, vegetal notes, earthy and salty mineral notes, tart herbaceous notes, very good finish. Only shows its potential on the second or third sip.
