2018 Montefalco Sagrantino DOCG, Umbria, Italy

Fairly deep, slightly dried floral, leathery and nutty nose, predominantly dark berries and cherries, partly dried, with herbaceous nuances, some pepper and tar. Taut, tart dark fruit that becomes increasingly juicy with air, smoky and somewhat roasted wood spice with cocoa notes and coffee grounds, dark peppery-ethereal spice on the palate, a little Mediterranean herbs, salt in the background, lots of power and present, fine sandy, ripe tannin, persistent, certain depth, notes reminiscent of radicchio in the background, still young, almost compact, very good, firm, tart-juicy and spicy finish with a lot of tannin grip.
