2018 Barbera d'Asti DOCG Superiore "La Bogliona", Piedmont, Italy

Firm and deep, very slightly developed aroma of ripe black berries and a little radicchio with herbal notes, dark, partly ethereal spice, smoky barrel notes, cherries, tobacco and a hint of bacon. Taut, almost cool, polished, dense, juicy, noble fruit, present, fine tannins and animating bite, again dark ethereal spice on the palate, nutty and slightly smoky barrel notes, a little coffee in the background, herbal nuances, deep, multi-layered and persistent, restrained power, has freshness, very good to long, concentrated, juicy and spicy finish with bite and tension. Great.
