2019 Maremma Toscana DOC Ciliegiolo "Vigna Rigualdo", Tuscany, Italy

Inviting, somewhat tobacco-like aroma of partly preserved, ripe cherries and mixed, predominantly red berries with leathery traces, moderate barrel notes, some nuts, dried herbs and a hint of cocoa. Ripe, juicy fruit with tobacco and restrained herbal nuances, some bite and tart, very slightly drying, yet relatively fine tannins, persistent and somewhat warm on the palate, clear hazelnut tones, some depth, a little olive and Mediterranean herbs in the background, noticeable salt, a hint of mocha, very good, juicy and spicy finish with a certain melting. At the beginning of its drinking maturity.

Editor note: Quite firm, but at the same time inviting, slightly warm aroma of mixed berries and cherries with notes of Mediterranean herbs and a hint of juniper. In the mouth still a bit closed, tart, tightly knitted fruit with smoky, toasty, somewhat bitter-chocolatey wood spice, a certain acidity and present, fine-sandy, ripe tannins, persistent and powerful on the palate, a little coffee, salt in the background, some depth, a lot of power, very good, tart finish. Needs to mature a little more.
