2020 Toscana IGT Merlot, Tuscany, Italy

Clear, relatively firm, somewhat nutty, spicy oak and tobacco on the nose, ripe black berries, some red berries and plums, some tomato paste, juniper, leathery and fleshy notes. Straightforward, warm, tart fruit, fine sandy tannins, slightly smoky and metallic notes, a hint of tomato paste, hints of plums, little depth but plenty of alcohol, good, albeit somewhat drying and slightly ashy finish.
