2014 Brunello di Montalcino DOCG, Tuscany, Italy

Somewhat developed, tart, nutty and light tobacco notes on the nose, ripe red and black berries, some dried flowers and hints of peppery juniper. Tart, juicy fruit with nutty, slightly dried vegetal to tobacco and restrained dark ethereal notes, a certain acid bite and relatively present, rather fine tannins, a little liquorice and cocoa in the background, salty tones, hints of iodine and iron, medium strength and good persistence, some depth, relatively complex, now harmonious and accessible, very good, tart, juicy and spicy finish with bite. No longer quite as impressive as in its youth and perhaps at the end of its potential a little earlier than expected, but now wonderful to drink.

Editor note: Slightly nutty and tobacco-like nose, more red than black berries, a touch of iodine and iron, spicy and prominent floral nuances. Firmly kneaded, tart and juicy, ripe fruit with herbaceous, nutty and slightly spicy aromas, some bite, fine sandy, youthful tannins, persistent on the palate, a hint of paprika and laurel, quite complex, good depth, moderate oak, very good, again multi-layered finish.
