The winery is located in the extreme northwest of the Saint-Émilion
area, on the border with the commune of Pomerol
(Bordeaux). The Château Cheval Blanc
is located in the immediate vicinity. It was founded in the 19th century by a merchant from Bordeaux who had become rich in overseas trade. He named the estate after a small Antillean island in the Caribbean. After that there were several changes of ownership. In 1956, the vines were severely damaged by the severe frost and the estate fell into oblivion. It owes its rebirth to the builder Clément Fayat from Libourne, who acquired it in 1969. He had the vineyards replanted and the cellar facilities renovated at great expense. The farm is classified as "Grand Cru Classé", which was last confirmed in 2012. Advisory support is provided by the well-known oenologist Michel Rolland
(*1947). The vineyards cover 18.5 hectares with Merlot (80%), Cabernet Franc (15%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (5%). The long-lasting red wine is aged for 18 months in barriques of 60 to 80% new barriques. The second wine is called "Saint-Paul de la Dominique".
