2000 Valtellina Superiore DOCG SASSELLA, Lombardy, Italy

Mineral notes on the nose, partly dried red berries, wilted flowers and leaves. Clean, cool, tart style, restrained fruit, acidity quite strongly present, mineral notes on the palate, some oak, slightly astringent style, slightly fragile, attractive finish. One wonders whether the fruit will ever come back.

Editor note: Quite intense mineral notes, cherries and red berries, integrated roasted notes, some undergrowth and leaves. Very clean, elegantly juicy fruit, tannins present but harmonious, good structure, light- to medium-bodied, more mineral notes in the background, persistent, red berries and wilted roses on a very good finish.
