The winery is located in the municipality of Bolgheri in the central-western part of the Italian region of Tuscany. The name means "house of endless negotiations" in Piedmontese dialect, because it took a total of 18 rounds to complete the purchase by the Gaja family. After the purchase was completed in 1996, the winery was completely rebuilt and refurbished to the most modern standards, which was completed in 2000. The special thing about it is that the winery has always blended in with its surroundings from year to year and is now "invisible". In fact, the buildings were built underground in a deeply excavated pit. Today, the winery is considered an architectural work of art.
The vineyards cover around 100 hectares. A large part of it is arranged in the form of a belt around the winery. The red wine varieties Sangiovese, Merlot, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot are cultivated, as well as the white wine varieties Viognier, Fiano and Vermentino. The vineyards are cultivated according to the certified rules of organic viticulture. Depending on the type of wine, the wines are matured in stainless steel tanks and/or barrique barrels. The product range includes the two IGP Toscana wines "Vistamare" (white wine) and "Promis" (red wine), as well as the two DOP red wines Bolgheri "Magari" and "Camarcanda". Around 450,000 bottles of wine are produced annually.
