The winery is located in the municipality of Karnabrunn in the Lower Austrian wine-growing region of Weinviertel. It has been run by Bernhard and Daniela Scheit since 1999. The entire farm is managed according to ecological and sustainable principles. This includes a photovoltaic system for the electrical energy supply, hot water production through a thermal solar system and wood chip heating. In 1999, the newly built wine dome, made of 26,000 bricks and modelled on the construction of a traditional wine cellar, was opened. The hemispherical room with a diameter of ten metres and a height of six metres is used for various events for up to 40 people.
The vineyards cover ten hectares in the Benzengraben, Tödt den Hengst, Muschelberg and Ölbergen vineyards. They are planted with the white wine varieties Grüner Veltliner, Riesling, Welschriesling and Chardonnay, as well as the red wine varieties Pinot Noir, Zweigelt and Roesler. The vineyards are cultivated according to the guidelines of organic viticulture. This includes cover crop with 40 different plants in order to promote biodiversity (variety of species). Quality criteria are late harvesting of physiologically ripe grapes, gentle pressing and individual maturation depending on the type of wine. Premium wines are Weinviertel DAC (Grüner Veltliner), Riesling and Zweigelt Prestige. Brandies (pomace), frizzante, grape juice and liqueurs are also produced.
