The winery is located in the municipality of Retzstadt (Maindreieck area) in the German wine growing region of Franconia. Since 2004 the development of own wines has taken place, but the family has had its own vineyards for more than three generations. By linking the family production companies to the "Winzerfamilie Koch", Andreas Koch has succeeded in putting together his own manageable range of wines. The vineyards in the Retztal and adjacent Maintal valley comprise five hectares of vineyards in the individual locations Benediktusberg (Retzbach), Langenberg (Retzstadt) and Stein (Stetten). They are mainly planted with the white wine varieties Silvaner, Müller-Thurgau, Rieslaner, Kernling andPinot Gris, as well as the red wine varieties PinotNoir, PinotMeunier and Domina. The cultivation is carried out in a conventional, environmentally friendly way according to the philosophy of the house "in harmony with nature".
As a certified Slow Food producer, the company pays particular attention to the typicality of the variety and the parcel. The wines are partly fermented chilled or aged with yeast sediment (sur lie). The red wines on the other hand mature in or in large wooden barrels. The wines are produced in the three lines "Neues Franken", "Klassisches Franken" and "Exotisches Franken". The premium wines include QUERICUS Benediktusberg Spätburgunder Spätlese dry, Langenberg Rieslaner Spätlese dry and Langenberg BAROCK Silvaner Spätlese dry. Around 12,000 bottles of wine are produced annually. The company also offers services related to wine and nature. Senor chef Monika Koch is a trained tour guide Weinerlebnis Franken and organises guided vineyard walks with tasting "Experience wine where it grows". Andreas Koch is a member of the young wine association Generation Riesling.
