The winegrowers' cooperative is located in the municipality of Sommerach (Maindreieck area) in the German wine growing region of Franconia. This oldest Franconian producer association was founded in 1901. Since 2005 the managing director is Frank Dietrich, cellar master is Helmut Glaser. The vineyards of the members comprise about 170 hectares of vineyards in the individual locations Katzenkopf and Rosenberg (Sommerach), as well as Dachs (Wiebelsberg). The white wine varieties clearly dominate with 90%, the most important are Müller-Thurgau, Silvaner, Riesling,Pinot Blanc, PinotGris, Bacchus, Traminer and Scheurebe. The most important red wine varieties arePinot Noir, Pinot Gris, PinotMeunier, Regent and Domina.
The wines are 90% dry or semi-dry. The wide product range comprises four lines. The basis of the quality pyramid is formed by six varietal wines from the "Edition St. Valentin" line, named after the patron saint of Sommerach winegrowers. These are followed by the Kabinett and Spätlese wines of the "Fränkische Klassik", bottled in Bocksbeutel. The "Concept No. 1" line comprises wines from selected plots of old vine stocks, significantly reduced yields and partial ageing in wooden barrels. The top line "Supremus" are great wines from particularly good plots and minimal yields. , bottle-fermented sparkling wines, wine vinegars, grape seed oils, noble spirits (yeast, marc, wine) and liqueurs are also produced.
