The winegrowers' cooperative is located in the municipality of Sommerach (Maindreieck area) in the German winegrowing region of Franconia. This oldest Franconian producer cooperative was founded in 1901. Frank Dietrich has been the managing director since 2005, and Helmut Glaser is the cellar master. The members' vineyards cover about 170 hectares of vineyards in the single vineyards Katzenkopf and Rosenberg (Sommerach), as well as Dachs (Wiebelsberg), for example. White wine varieties clearly dominate with 90%, the most important being Müller-Thurgau, Silvaner, Riesling, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Bacchus, Traminer and Scheurebe. The most important red wine varieties are Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier, Regent and Domina.
90% of the wines are vinified dry or semi-dry. The broad product range comprises four lines. The basis of the quality pyramid is formed by six varietal wines from the "Edition St. Valentin" line, named after the patron saint of Sommerach vintners. These are followed by the "Fränkische Klassik" Kabinett and Spätlese wines bottled in Bocksbeutel bags. The "Concept No. 1" line includes wines from selected parcels of old vines, significantly reduced yields and partial ageing in wooden barrels. The top line "Supremus" are great wines from particularly good parcels and minimal yields. Sparkling wines, bottle-fermented sparkling wines, wine vinegars, grape seed oils, noble brandies (yeast, marc, wine) and liqueurs are also produced.
