Description to Wagram
Winegrowers' association in the Wagram winegrowing region in Lower Austria. It emerged from the association "Collegium Vinum Wachrain", which was founded in 1989 with 50 members. In 2002, a new formation took place with the 14 member wineries Bauer Stefan, Benedikt, Direder, Ecker - Eckhof, Ehn Gerhard, Greil Norbert, Heiderer-Mayer, Kolkmann, Mayer Matthias, Sauerstingl, Urbanihof Fam. Paschinger, Waldschütz Anton, Zehetner and Zwickl. Some of the former Collegium Vinum members founded the association "Wineries Wagram". The chairman of the "Wagramer Selektion" has been Bernhard Ecker since 2006. The quality wines are produced according to strict criteria. These include targeted plant protection with environmentally friendly means, complete control from pruning to the bottle and presentation of the hand-picked grapes in bulk to the BKI (Bundeskellerei-Inspektion). The wines are evaluated annually by an international jury in a blind tasting. The best wines are offered in the area vinotheque in the Alter Winzerkeller (Ernst Vogel) in Kirchberg a. W.. The winegrowers or member wineries appear as a united team at various events. A second Wagramer association with similar objectives is the above-mentioned Verein Weingüter Wagram.
