Description to Vin Santo del Chianti DOC

DOC area for dessert wines Vin Santo in the Italian region of Tuscany. The zone includes sub-areas in the six provinces of Arezzo, Firenze, Pisa, Pistoia, Prato and Siena. It is identical to the DOCG Chianti area. There are the seven subzones Colli Aretini, Colli Fiorentini, Colli Senesi, Colline Pisane, Montalbano, Montespertoli and Rufina, which may be mentioned on the bottle label. The straw-yellow to amber Vin Santo del Chianti is made from Trebbiano Toscano and/or Malvasia del Chianti = Malvasia Bianca Lunga (zum. 70%) and other authorised white and red varieties (max. 30%). The salmon-red Vin Santo del Chianti Occhio di Pernice is produced from Sangiovese (zum. 50%) and other authorised varieties (max. 50%). The wines are aged in different flavours. For both wines there are also longer matured Riserva. Another Vin Santo from the Chianti Classico area is Vin Santo del Chianti Classico.
