Description to Vin Santo del Chianti Classico DOC
DOC area for dessert wines Vin Santo in the Italian region of Tuscany. The zone includes the municipalities of Castellina in Chianti, Castelnuovo Berardenga, Gaiole in Chianti, Poggibonsi and Radda in Chianti in the province of Siena, and Barberino Val d'Elsa, Greve in Chianti, San Casciano in Val di Pesa and Tavarnelle Val di Pesa in the province of Firenze. It is identical to DOCG area Chianti-Classico. The straw-yellow to amber Vin Santo del Chianti Classico is blended from at least 60% Trebbiano Toscano and/or Malvasia = Malvasia Bianca Lunga, and a maximum of 40% of other authorised white and red varieties. The salmon-red Vin Santo del Chianti Classico Occhio di Pernice is produced from at least 80% Sangiovese and a maximum of 20% of other authorised varieties. The wines are aged in different flavours. There is no Riserva opposite the DOC area Vin Santo del Chianti.
