Ruché di Castagnole Monferrato DOC

Description to Ruché di Castagnole Monferrato DOC

DOCG area for red wine in the Italian region of Piedmont, which was highly classified in 2010. The former DOC area was created in 1987 in order to support the reactivation of the autochthonous grape variety, which was then threatened with extinction, and this was successful. The vineyards cover about 100 hectares of vineyards in the municipalities of Castagnole Monferrato, Grana, Montemagno, Portacomaro, Refrancore, Scurzolengo and Viarigi in the province of Asti. If the grapes come from classified vineyards, Vigna followed by the name of the vineyard can be indicated on the bottle label. The wine is made from the varieties Ruchè (zum. 90%), and Barbera and/or Brachetto = Brachetto del Piemonte (max. 10%).
