Description to Riviera del Brenta DOC
DOC area for red wines, rosé wines and white wines in the Italian region of Veneto The banks of the Brenta Canal run from the town of Stra in the province of Venice to the Adriatic Sea and were created in the 16th century by canalising the Brenta River. The zone includes 18 municipalities in the province of Venice and 22 municipalities in the province of Padua
The pure wines must contain at least 85% of the respective variety. The red wines are Cabernet(Cabernet Franc and/or Cabernet Sauvignon and/or Carmenère), Merlot, Raboso(Raboso Piave and/or Raboso Veronese) and Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso. The types Cabernet, Raboso and Refosco may call themselves Riserva after two years of maturation. The white wines are Chardonnay, Tai(Sauvignonasse), Pinot Bianco(Pinot Blanc) and Pinot Grigio(Pinot Gris)
The Bianco must consist of at least 50% Tai. The wine types Rosso (also known as Novello) and Rosato must contain at least 50% Merlot. The Spumante must be made of at least 60% Chardonnay. As Spumante there are also the wine types Chardonnay and Pinot Bianco. And as Frizzante there are Bianco, Chardonnay and Pinot Bianco.
