Description to P.D.O. Mantineia (O.P.A.P.) / Μαντινεία
Appellation (grch. Mandinia) in the district of Arkadia in the heart of the Peloponnese peninsula. The name derives from the ancient Mantinia, whose ruins are located in the north of the plateau of the same name. The vineyards cover 620 hectares of vines on soils partly interspersed with limestone in 11 municipalities at an altitude of 600 to 800 metres above sea level. The dry POP white wine is made from the Moschofilero (zum. 85%) and Asprouda varieties. Asproudes (Mz.) is the name given to several independent white grape varieties that are grown as a mixture. Well known producers are Boutari, Cambas, Spiropoulos and Tselepos.
