Description to Montecarlo DOC

DOC zone for red wines, rosé wines and white wines in the Italian region of Tuscany. The zone covers 65 hectares of vineyards in the municipalities of Altopasico, Capannori, Montecarlo and Porcari in the province of Lucca

The wine types Bianco and Vin Santo are blended from Trebbiano Toscano (30-60%), in any mixture of the varieties Sémillon, Pinot Grigio = Pinot Gris, Pinot Bianco = Pinot Blanc, Roussanne, Sauvignon = Sauvignon Blanc and Vermentino (40-70%), as well as other authorised varieties (max. 20%). Rosso (also as Riserva) and the rosé-coloured Vin Santo Occhio di Pernice are blended from Sangiovese (50-75%), Canaiolo Nero and/or Merlot and/or Syrah (15-40%), Ciliegiolo and/or Colorino = Abrusco and/or Malvasia Nera di Brindisi and/or Cabernet Franc and/or Cabernet Sauvignon (10-30%), as well as other permitted varieties (max. 20%). The single-varietal wines Sauvignon, Vermentino, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah are produced from the respective variety (max. 85%), as well as other authorised varieties (max. 15%).
