Description to Mercurey AOC
Communal appellation in French Burgundy in the north of the large area of Côte Chalonnaise. It covers areas of the three communes of Bourgneuf-Val-d'Or, Mercurey and Saint-Martin-sous-Montaigu. The vineyards cover around 100 hectares of vines with around 30 Premier Cru sites. These include Bondue, Byots, Cailloute, Champs Martin, Clos Château de Montaigu, Clos du Roi, Champs Martin, Clos l'évêque, Fourneaux, Levrière, Marcilly, Mission, Montaigus, Naugues, Petits Voyens, Ruelles and Vasées. The majority of storable red wines are made here from Pinot Noir with a share of the Pinot Gris and Pinot Liébault varieties. The small amount of white wines are made from Chardonnay with a percentage of Pinot Blanc. Well known producers are Bichot (Domaine Adélie), Brintet, Chandesais, Émile Juillot, Narjoux and Raquillet.
