Maranges AOC |
Description to Maranges AOC
The appellation, named after the commune of the same name, has 180 hectares of vineyards and is located in the Côte de Beaune part of the Burgundy Côte d'Or. It was only created in 1989 by merging the three formerly independent AC's Cheilly-lès-Maranges, Dezize-lès-Maranges and Sampigny-lès-Maranges. These three places share the vineyard Les Maranges with the Premiers Crus Clos de la Boutière, Clos de la Fussière, Clos des Loyères, Clos des Rois, Clos Roussots, Croix Moines and Fussière. Almost exclusively, red wines are made from Pinot Noir with shares of Pinot Gris and Pinot Liébault. These can also be marketed as Côte de Beaune or Côte de Beaune-Villages.
