Description to Lavilledieu IGP
IGP area north of the Fronton AOC area in south-west France. It belongs to the huge regional IGP area Comté Tolosan. The former VDQS area (formerly also Vins de Lavilledieu) was classified in 2012. It is located between Montauban and Castelsarrasin, at the confluence of the Tarn and Garonne rivers in 15 communes of the Tarn-et-Garonne department. The vineyards cover around 150 hectares of vines on sandy and clay soils. The climate is predominantly maritime. Red wines account for 80% of the production and rosé wines for 20%. They are blended from the varieties Négrette, Gamay, Cabernet Franc, Syrah and Tannat.
