Description to Falerno del Massico DOC
DOC area for white wines and red wines in the Italian region of Campania. The zone on the slopes of the eponymous Monte Massico comprises the municipalities of Carinola, Cellole, Falciano del Massico, Mondragone and Sessa Aurunca in the province of Caserta. From here came one of the most famous ancient wines, the "wine of the Caesars" - the Falerno wine. The Bianco must contain at least 85% Falanghina. The Rosso (also called Riserva) is made from Aglianico (60%), Piedirosso (max. 40%) and other authorised varieties (max. 15%). The red wine Primitivo (also as Riserva or Vecchio) is blended from Primitivo = Tribidrag (zum. 85%), as well as in any mixture of Aglianico, Piedirosso and Barbera (max. 15%). If the grapes come from classified vineyards, Vigna can be indicated followed by the name of the vineyard.
