Wine regions in Dobrogea (Dobrudscha) 2 growing regions

Description to Dobrogea (Dobrudscha)

The Romanian wine-growing region (also Dobruja) lies in the extreme south-east between the Danube and the Black Sea on the borders with Bulgaria and Moldavia. The climate is characterised by a lot of sunshine and little rainfall. Red wines, rosé wines and white wines are pressed from autochthonous varieties such as Fetească Albă, Fetească Neagră and Fetească Regală, as well as international varieties. These are the white wine varieties Chardonnay, Gewürztraminer, Muscat Ottonel, Pinot Gris, Riesling Italico(Welschriesling) and Tamîioasa(Muscat Blanc), as well as the red wine varieties Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Pinot Noir. The region is divided into four areas: Istria-Babadag, Murfatlar, Ostrov and Sarca Niculitel.
