Description to D.O. Sierras de Málaga
This DO area geographically corresponds to the DO area of Malaga and thus, like this one, comprises almost 1,200 hectares of vineyards. The classification was only made in 2001 and includes red wines, rosé wines and white wines with an alcohol content of less than 15% vol. The red and rosé wines are mainly blended from the varieties Romé, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah and Tempranillo. Garnacha Tinta, Cabernet Franc, Pinot Noir and Petit Verdot are also permitted. The white wines are mainly produced from the varieties Pedro Ximénez, Moscatel de Málaga (Muscat d'Alexandrie), Moscatel Morisco (Muscat Blanc), Chardonnay, Macabeo and Sauvignon Blanc. Lairén (Airén), Doradilla and Colombard are also authorised.
