D.O. Jerez - D.O. Manzanilla |
Description to D.O. Jerez - D.O. Manzanilla
The DO area in the province of Cádiz, located in the region of Andalusia on the Atlantic coast, is called "Jerez/Xérèz/Sherry y Manzanilla de Sanlúcar Barrameda" in its full name, and comprises around 10,500 hectares of vineyards. In the centre of the "Golden Triangle" are the three towns that give the area its name: Jerez de la Frontera, El Puerto de Santa Maria and Sanlúcar de Barrameda. Strictly speaking, this is a double-DO or two sub-areas. The designation "Jerez-Xérès-Sherry" applies to the sherry, which is the eastern DO area. The western DO area with special climatic conditions is "Manzanilla de Sanlúcar Barrameda", where the special sherry variety Manzanilla is produced. Many sherry producers also produce a Brandy de Jerez
