Description to Crémant de Bourgogne AOC
The regional appellation applies to crémant (sparkling wine produced according to the Champagne method) made from the traditional grape varieties in Burgundy. It replaced the old designation "Bourgogne Mousseux". The main varieties used are the white Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris and Aligoté and the red Pinot Noir and Gamay. The wines are mainly white and to a lesser extent rosé. The main supplier of base wines is the Rully appellation. See also under Bourgogne and Burgundy classification.
