Description to Côtes du Brulhois AOC
The appellation is located in the centre of the southwest wine region of France, immediately east of the Buzet area. The former VDQS area was classified as AOP in 2010. Until the phylloxera catastrophe, the Brulhois wines belonging to the Haut-Pays area were blended with those of Bordeaux. After that, the vines were planted with the current varieties. The vineyards cover 220 hectares on both banks of the Garonne and its tributary Moissac near the town of Layrac. Rosé and red wines are blended from Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Fer, Merlot, Malbec and Tannat. Well-known producers are Château Bastide, Château Grand Chene, CV de Goulens-en-Brulhois and Clos Pountet.
