Description to Côtes de Thongue
IGP area for red, rosé, white and sparkling wines in the French wine region of Languedoc. The former VdP area extends over 23 communes in the Département of Hérault in the watershed area of the river Thongue, which gives it its name. Nearly all varieties approved in the Languedoc can be used. These are used to produce varietal wines and cuvées. The most commonly used grape varieties are Cabernet Franc, Carignan Noir(Mazuelo), Cinsaut, Grenache Noir(Garnacha Tinta), Merlot, Mourvèdre(Monastrell), Pinot Noir and Syrah for red and rosé wines, and Chardonnay, Muscat Blanc, Rolle(Vermentino), Sauvignon Blanc and Viognier for white wines. Well known producers are Domaine de l'Arjolle, Domaine de la Condamine, Domaine Coussergue, Domaine Deshenrys, Domaine du Prieuré d'Amilhac and Domaine de la Serre.
