Description to Coste della Sesia DOC

DOC area for red, rosé and white wines in the Italian region of Piedmont. The name means "bank of the Sesia". The zone covers almost 30 hectares of vineyards west of the Sesis river with the municipalities of Brusnengo, Candelo, Cerreto Castello, Cossato, Curino, Lessona, Masserano, Mottalciata, Quaregna, Sostegno, Valdengo, Vigliano Biellese and Villa del Bosco in the province of Biella, and the municipalities of Gattinara, Lozzolo, Roasio and Serravalle Sesia in the province of Vercelli. If the grapes come from classified vineyards, in the case of varietal wines, Vigna followed by the name of the vineyard may be indicated on the bottle label

The pure red wines must contain at least 85% of the respective variety, the rest may be other approved varieties. These are Croatina, Nebbiolo or Spanna and Vespolina. The Rosso and Rosato types of wine are blended from Nebbiolo (to 50%) and other approved varieties (max. 50%). The Bianco is pressed 100% pure from Erbaluce.
