Description to Colline Lucchesi DOC

DOC area for white wines and red wines in the Italian region of Tuscany. The zone includes the three municipalities of Capannori, Lucca and Porcari in the province of Lucca. The name means the "hills of Lucca". The Bianco is blended from Trebbiano Toscano (40-80%), any use or mixture of Chardonnay, Greco, Grechetto = Grechetto di Orvieto, Malvasia Bianca Lunga, Sauvignon = Sauvignon Blanc and Vermentino (10-60%), and other authorised varieties (max. 25%).

Rosso (also known as Riserva) is produced from Sangiovese (45-80%), any use or mixture of Canaiolo Nero, Ciliegiolo, Merlot and Syrah (10-50%), and other authorised varieties (max. 30%, of which Aleatico and Moscato max. 5% each). The pure variety wines must contain at least 85% of the respective variety and a maximum of 15% of other approved varieties. These are the two red wines Merlot and Sangiovese (both also as Riserva), and the two white wines Sauvignon and Vermentino. The white Vin Santo is produced in any use of the authorised white varieties in secco and amabile, the rosé Vin Santo Occhio di Pernice in any use of the authorised red varieties in dolce
