Description to Colli Trasimeno DOC

DOC area (also Trasimeno) for red wines, rosé wines and white wines in the Italian region Umbria. The zone includes parts of the municipalities of Castiglione del Lago, Città della Pieve, Corciano, Magione, Paciano, Panicale, Passignano sul Trasimeno, Perugia, Piegaro and Tuoro sul Trasimeno in the province of Perugia. If the grapes come from classified vineyards, the bottle label may indicate Vigna followed by the name of the vineyard

The Bianco (also known as Frizzante and Vin Santo) is blended from Trebbiano Toscano (zum. 40%), any use of Grechetto, Chardonnay, Pinot Bianco = Pinot Blanc and Pinot Grigio = Pinot Gris (zum. 30%), as well as other authorised varieties (max. 30%). The Bianco Scelto (Scelto = Auslese) is produced in any mixture of Vermentino, Grechetto, Chardonnay, Pinot Bianco, Pinot Grigio, Sauvignon = Sauvignon Blanc and Riesling Italico = Welschriesling (zum. 85%)

The Rosso (also known as Novello and Frizzante) and Rosato wines are made from Sangiovese (40%), with any use of Ciliegiolo, Gamay, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon (30%), as well as other authorised varieties (max. 30%). The Rosso Scelto is produced with any use of Gamay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Pinot Nero = Pinot Noir (zum. 70%), Sangiovese (zum. 15%), as well as other approved varieties (max. 15%)

The pure wines must contain at least 85% of the respective varieties. This is the white wine Grechetto, and the three red wines Cabernet Sauvignon, Gamay and Merlot. As Riserva there are the four wine types Rosso, Cabernet Sauvignon, Gamay and Merlot

The spumante Metodo Classico (Metodo classico = bottle fermentation) is produced in any mixture of Chardonnay, Pinot Bianco, Pinot Grigio, Pinot Nero and Grechetto (to 70%), as well as other approved varieties (max. 30%). The Spumante Metodo Classico Rosè is produced from Pinot Nero (50%) and Chardonnay and/or Pinot Bianco (max. 50%).
