The winery is located in the municipality of Martinsdorf in the Weinviertel wine-growing region (Lower Austria), around 20 kilometres north-east of Vienna. It was founded in 2000 by Else Zuschmann and the trained chef Peter Schöfmann. In addition to viticulture, they also run a grocery shop (village shop) with regional products.
The vineyards cover 17 hectares of vines in the Hölle, Plesslberg, Ralessen, Schricker Bergen and Urdonau vineyards in the municipalities of Martinsdorf and Bad Pirawarth. The vineyards are 70% planted with white wine varieties, with Grüner Veltliner being the most important variety, accounting for around two thirds. Other varieties are Sauvignon Blanc, Traminer, Pinot Blanc, Chardonnay and Gelber Muskateller. The remaining 30% is made up of the red wine varieties Zweigelt, St. Laurent, Merlot and Pinot Noir. The vineyards are cultivated according to organic viticulture guidelines , which have been certified since 2016. The extensive product range comprises around 25 wines and is divided into four lines:
Individual wines are fermented spontaneously with the vineyard's own yeasts. Depending on the type of wine, ageing takes place in stainless steel tanks, large wooden barrels or barrique barrels. Some of the wines are bottled unfiltered. Bottle-fermented sparkling wines are also produced using the traditional method.
