2019 Syrah Landwein "Jaspis Däublin", Oberrhein, Germany

Firm, tart and quite deep, smoky to slightly bacony aroma of ripe black berries with tobacco and somewhat peppery aromas, dry herbs and moderate wood spice. Polished, tangy, taut, cool dark fruit, herbal-vegetable and peppery aromas, some smoky wood notes, again bacony tones, hints of black olives in the background, lasting, firm structure, good depth, still young, has power and at the same time elegance, clear minerality, very good to long, firm, tangy, grippy and again somewhat smoky finish with bite. First class.
