The winery is located in the municipality of Konz-Oberemmel (Saar area) in the German wine-growing region of Mosel. It was taken over by Maria Willems in 1971. The double name results from the fact that her husband Kal bore the same name thanks to a common great-grandson. Since 2001, the business has been run by daughter Carolin Hofmann, who gained experience in Australia and South Africa. Her husband Jürgen Hofmann runs a vineyard in the municipality of Appenheim in Rheinhessen as a second family business. The vineyards cover four hectares of vines in the single vineyards Altenberg, Karlsberg and Rosenberg (Oberemmel), as well as Herrenberg (Niedermennig). Due to the predominant soil types here, the slogan "slate meets shell limestone" was created. The white wine varieties Riesling (70% of the total area), Müller-Thurgau and Pinot Blanc, as well as the red wine varieties Pinot Noir and Dornfelder are cultivated. After fermentation on the skins, the red wines are partly matured in barriques, the white wines in steel tanks. The premium wines include the Rieslings "Unter der Kapelle" and "Edmond" from over 70-year-old vines from the prime vineyard of the Altenberg site. The Riesling "Fusion II" is a joint project made from grapes from the Saar and Rheinhessen. The winery is a member of the Mosel-Jünger, Simply Wine and Generation Riesling associations
