The winery is located in the centre of the municipality of Neustadt-Mußbach (area Mittelhaardt-Deutsche Weinstraße) in the German wine-growing region Palatinate. Already both great-grandfathers of Bernd Weik were winemakers and cellar masters. After training as a viticultural engineer in Geisenheim and internships in France and Australia, Bernd Weik has been running the company since 1982. He has also been working for many years as a consulting oenologist at the Dienstleistungs-Zentrum Ländlicher Raum Rheinpfalz in Mußbach. His wife Joan is responsible for the vineyards, internal processes and customer care. Bernd Weik takes care of the mechanical work in the vineyard and is responsible for the wines. In addition, events such as weddings and company events are organized.

Biengarten - Gimmeldingen (Pfalz)

The vineyards cover 6.5 hectares of vineyards in the individual sites Eselshaut, Beim Steinernen Bild, Am Rothenstein and Glockenzehnt (Mußbach), Biengarten and Schlössel (Gimmeldingen), Bürgergarten and Herzog (Haardt), and Idig (Königsbach). They are planted 70% with the white wine varieties Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc,Pinot Blanc, PinotGris, Scheurebe, Auxerrois, Viognier and Gewürztraminer, and 30% with the red wine varietiesPinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot. We practice environmentally friendly viticulture with, for example, greening, fertilization only after soil analysis and the actual need, and renunciation of herbicides and insecticides.

The product range is divided into litre wines, estate wines, site wines and the premium line Löwenherz (outstanding wines of the vintage, late harvested grapes from the best vineyards, low yields). Most of the grapes (85%) are picked by hand. The average yield is usually a low 5,000 to 6,500 litres per hectare. The white wines are mostly matured in stainless steel in order to achieve an optimum of fruit. The red wines mature exclusively in French . Great importance is attached to a pronounced tannin structure to give the wines complexity and fullness. Sparkling wines have been produced in the winery using the classic bottle fermentation method since 1986. The winery is a member of the Forum Pfalz.
