2017 trocken Cuvée "Wilhelm", Pfalz, Germany

Clear, firm, rather polished aroma of ripe black and red berries with herbaceous and smoky notes and moderate, hinted at ashy wood spice. Ripe, juicy, rather tart fruit, nutty wood spice, smoky notes and hints of toasting, crumbly, sandy tannin, some pepper on the palate, also peppery, ethereal notes, persistent, a hint of citrus zest, salty minerality, very good, firm, almost cool finish for all its power. Very skilful.
