2016 Carnuntum Ried Braunsberg Blaufränkisch trocken, Lower Austria/Niederösterreich, Austria

Blackberry aroma with dried floral and herbal aromas, nutty woody tones, tobacco, juniper, a little blood, star anise, earthy nuances and a hint of bacon, pepper and slightly noticeable alcohol. Quite tart, somewhat developed fruit that becomes juicier with air, with smoky, toasty wood spice, oniony notes and again noticeable alcohol, crumbly, sandy tannin, slightly bitter cocoa notes, some persistence, bacony hints, hints of oxidation, good to very good, again a little bitter and oniony finish. Unfortunately no longer approaches its youthful form and seems to develop faster than expected.
