2018 Südtirol / Alto Adige DOC Lagrein Riserva "Sond", Alto Adige, Italy

Still very slightly muted, a touch peppery and mushroomy nose of ripe, partly preserved black berries with dried herbal aromas, nutty woody tones and a little juniper. Tart, tight, juicy dark fruit, a little liquorice, pepper and a hint of juniper, present, slightly drying tannin, some acid bite, tobacco and sooty traces, a touch of carbonic acid, minty traces, chalk and salt in the background, very good, tart finish with a lot of bite.

Editor note: Tart, firm, slightly smoky aroma of black berries with a little cherry, herbal aromas, hints of pepper and mineral tones. Tight, ripe, juicy dark fruit, nutty, peppery and slightly coffee-spicy aromas, quite present, ripe tannin, persistent and powerful, but also with cooling elements, lots of salt, some depth, very good, firm, again slightly coffee-bitter and quite mineral finish with herbal notes and a hint of juniper. Becomes even juicier with air
