The family winery is located in the municipality of Schrattenberg in the wine-growing region of Weinviertel(Lower Austria). It is owned and managed by the Schwarz family. The vineyards cover 23.5 hectares of vineyards in the vineyards Alte Berge, Alte Zuckermandl, Antoniberg, Bründlberg, Gloria, Maierhofberg, Marktweg, Raistenberg, Satzen, Steingrube, Tennau and Zuckermandl. They are 76% planted with the red wine varieties Zweigelt, St. Laurent, Blaufränkisch, Blauer Portugieser, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Pinot Noir and Merlot, and 24% with the white wine varieties Chardonnay, Gelber Muskateller, Grüner Veltliner, Gemischter Satz, Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Welschriesling and Traminer. The vineyards are cultivated according to the rules of organic viticulture certified by Lacon. Quality-enhancing measures include pruning, cover crop between the rows of vines, careful foliage management and yield-reducing thinning. Only physiologically ripe and healthy grapes are harvested by hand.
The cellar measures in a wine cellar equipped with the latest technology are based on the non-invasive principle of "as much as necessary, as little as possible". Depending on the desired wine type, the wines are matured in the traditional manner in stainless steel tanks or in large wooden barrels, and the premium wines in small oak barrels (225-litre barriques, 228-litre pièces, 300-litre barrels) for at least 12 to mostly 18 months. The premium wines of the house include the three red wines "Zweigelt Premium", "Blaufränkisch Premium", "Syrah Premium" and the two white wines "Chardonnay Premium" and "Traminer Premium". The red wine cuvée "Grande Reserve" (the composition of the grape varieties varies from vintage to vintage; the best barrels of the winery are always used for this ultra-premium wine) is the qualitative top of the range. In years with suitable weather conditions, noble sweet Trockenbeerenauslesen and ice wines are also pressed. In addition, bottle-fermented sparkling wines, frizzante (semi-sparkling wine), noble brandies (grape marc brand y and brandy), verjus (also as a foaming pétillant) and red grape juice from St. Laurent are produced.
