2018 Schloss Vollrads Greiffenberg Riesling Grosses Gewächs trocken, Rheingau, Germany

Slightly developed, dense and quite deep, still a touch muted, dried-vegetable, floral and a hint of tobacco with calm yellow-fruity aromas and certain phenolic tones. Ripe, quite juicy, sweetish fruit, candy notes, floral tones and a hint of liquorice, fine sandy tannin and ripe acidity, clearly red and black berries on the palate, persistent, has grip, certain power and depth, floral nuances, green bacon and rosemary in the background, also a little thyme, compact structure, multi-layered spice, very good, grippy, again relatively sweet finish with tart mineral, phenolic and ethereal notes. Completely underestimated by us in May.
