Firm, herbaceous and planty scent reminiscent of mustard pickles with aromas of ripe yellow fruits, nutty tones, smoke, hints of bacon, dill, some nut butter, okra and dark spice. Ripe, tightly knit, melting fruit, nutty, dried herbal, tobacco and peppery aromas, fine acidity and grip of crumbly-sandy tannin, persistent, has power and melting but no heaviness, mineral notes in the background, some ethereal spice and again a little mustard pickle, also a hint of nut butter, cardamom and caramel, very good, quite grippy, juicy, spicy and melting finish with some menthol.
Since the 2008 vintage, wine-legally defined DAC area (specific wine-growing region) in the Austrian wine-growing region of Lower Austria (generic wine-growing region). See under Kamptal.
