2017 Südtirol / Alto Adige DOC Vernatsch "R", Alto Adige, Italy

Somewhat planty to herbaceous, nutty and hinted spicy aroma of predominantly red berries with a hint of juniper, tobacco and meat juice. Tart fruit with restrained, somewhat bitter-chocolatey and delicately smoky wood spice, fine-dusty, still a little drying tannin, citrus zest in the background, hints of allspice, earthy and chalky tones, salty minerality, very good, very slightly drying finish with noticeable acid bite. Matures better and longer than originally expected.
